The ToniPERM Standard Model 6578 is designed for the automatic determination fineness of cement. The fineness of cement is determined as the specific surface area (Blaine value). This model conforms with the ASTM C 204 & EN 196-6 Standard in the cement industry.
The ToniPERM II Model 6575 is also designed for the automatic determination of the specific surface of powders in other industries, for instance iron ore, gypsum, coke, ceramics. It is equipped with two measuring cells (alternating operation) to increase test frequency.

The principle of the test is to measure the time taken by a certain quantity of air to flow through a compacted powder bed of specific volume and porosity.
The powder is compacted into a cylindrical permeability cell. After the selection of the test material from the material data base and the entry of the test-specific parameters, the test is carried out fully automatically.
Via a U-tube manometer, which is equipped with light barriers, a negative pressure is generated by means of a solenoid valve and a diaphragm pump. This negative pressure is compensated by an amount of air flowing through the powder bed in the measuring cell. Then the ToniPERM automatically evaluates the test, displays the result and stores the result including the test parameters in the database.
